Error copying files from SharePoint Explorer view to Windows 7

If you have files larger than 50mb then you will likely have some issues moving them from your SharePoint site explorer view to your machine or other source.

An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the folder. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.

You will need to make this change on both source and destination.

Make sure to create a backup of the entire registry before moving forward.

  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
  3. In the right pane, right-click the FileSizeLimitInBytes value, and then click Modify.
  4. Restart both computer

If you don’t see FileSizeLimitInBytes value in that registry location:

Make sure to create a backup of the entire registry before moving forward.

  1. Right-click the blank space in the right pane, click New, click DWORD Value, type FileSizeLimitInBytes, and then click OK.
  2. In the Edit DWORD Value box, click to select the Decimal option. In the box under Value data, type a value that is larger than the size of the file that you want to download. Click OK.
  3. Again reboot the destination you had to add the key to
